Himba Bangle - Kaokoland Grey
In northern Namibia live the Himba people – a true nomadic tribe who wear little clothing, often made of goat skin and cover themselves in a thick ochre for protection against the harsh dessert climate. They adorn themselves in amazing jewellery made of leather, shells, metal, plastics and other materials that they find. Their traditional life has far from been adapted to the modern world, however trade of jewellery for money and other goods is common. These special bangles have been worn and made by the Himba people – some still covered in ochre, they are made from an old plastic poly pipe found in the ground and carved with beautiful and intricate patterns inspired by animals, the landscape and tribal culture.
Each ‘Kaokoland Grey’ bangle is unique in pattern and will vary slightly in colour. They all hold the same beautiful qualities.
Measure approx 1-1.5cm x 6cm. Sizes vary slightly, standard fit.
