Himba Anklets - Oryx Blue (Set of 2)

In northern Namibia live the Himba people – a true nomadic tribe who wear little clothing, often made of goat skin and cover themselves in a thick ochre for protection against the harsh dessert climate. They adorn themselves in amazing jewellery made of leather, shells, metal, plastics and other materials that they find. Their traditional life has far from been adapted to the modern world, however trade of jewellery for money and other goods is common. This set of anklets has been worn by a Himba woman for protection against snakes – they are made from old plastic poly pipe found in the ground and carved with beautiful and intricate patterns symbolic of animals, the landscape and tribal culture.

The set of 2  ‘Oryx Blue‘  anklets are unique, only 1 set available. Measures 5cm high x 7cm wide.
